Wedding Essentials: Invitation Timeline

Although we might not all be the type to plan ahead, when it comes to a big event like your wedding you might want to reconsider. Sticking to a timeline will make the process smoother and ensure you don't forget any details! It will also give guests enough time to add your important dates to their calendars.

Here is a schedule you'll want to work around for your invitations:

9-11 months out

Research styles and stationers

6-8 months out

Order and send save the dates

Order thank you notes

4-6 months out

Finalize and order invitations, including all enclosures

(P.S. If you're including a link to your wedding website make sure you've secured the link)

Reserve a calligrapher

4 months out

Drop off envelopes/ invitations with a calligrapher

6-8 weeks out

Send invitations

Order table numbers, place cards, escort cards, and menus

Finalize and order ceremony programs

1 month out

Send invitations for any additional parties

Drop off day-of materials with calligrapher

Paige is so pleased to be a full time calligrapher, working in her NY studio with her beagle keeping her toes warm. When she's not writing, she's making surface pattern designs and reading.
