Your wedding venue sets the stage for the entire event, so it should correspond with the your vision. Today, we're pulling together a few castle and manor venues close to New York to consider. Not only will these work for a romantic, fairytale wedding but can also become the beautiful backdrop for whatever theme and atmosphere you're trying to create. Everything from the invitations, to floral arrangements to music can bring that vision to life.

Huntington, New York

2. Fonthill Castle Estate Doylestown, Pennsylvania

The Fonthill Castle was built between 1908 and 1912 by Henry Chapman Mercer. As a passionate archaeologist, ceramist, and scholar, he created his home as a place to showcase his precious collection of Moravian tiles and prints. The design of his elaborate estate was inspired by Medieval, Gothic, and Byzantine architecture. Blending these styles, he developed a stunning seven-level castle with rooms boasting high ceilings and wooden accents. The central atrium was used as a showplace for large antique items including a whale-boat, stagecoach, and Conestoga wagon. Other exhibits were installed within the fortress organized by Mercer's classifications designated as healing arts, tinsmithing, and dairying. Today, Mercer’s relics can still be studied and used as a place to host weddings among a rich place of history. A vast lawn may also be embellished with arbors and flowers to personalize the property. Massive trees and verdant greenery offer a canvas that can be transformed with hanging lanterns and twinkle lights. Wedding parties can also marvel at a starlit sky within the comforts of the clear-top event tent. Fonthill Castle & Mercer Museum can accommodate up to 180 guests between the many spaces. Events full of cheerful dining and dancing may ensue within the castle's great hall or the courtyard. The large event tent also offers a comfortable location with air-conditioning and high-tech lighting. The light show provides a breathtaking view at night of the castle being illuminated with colors. A lively way to start the evening of celebration and cheer to last throughout the night.

Beardslee Castle is a stunning, vintage wedding venue located in Little Falls, New York. The castle was built in 1860, and was created to be a replica of an Irish castle. It now provides a breathtaking backdrop for weddings all year-round. Beardslee Castle has a wide variety of menus and on-site wedding planners to make your special day the best it can possibly be.
4. Lyndhurst Mansion Tarrytown, New York
Wherever your event takes you, the romantic Gothic Revival Lyndhurst Mansion, renamed in 1865 for the Linden trees planted on the estate, sets the stage for your unforgettable celebration. The doors of the Mansion open as you descend the Great Lawn to your wedding guests and ceremony below. The Mansion, and its plethora of architectural angles, serves as the backdrop for wedding and event photography like no other. Ceremonies can be held on Lyndhurst’s sweeping great lawn with the picturesque backdrop of the fairy-tale mansion and river views. The Carriage House features a semi-permanent tent which hosts up to 250 guests for receptions, dinner, and dancing, and may be expanded to accommodate more.
5. Castle in the Clouds Moultonborough, New Hampshire

This estate is a piece of local history. Over a century ago, Tom and Olive Plant built the Lucknow mansion with architecture inspired by the aesthetic of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Lucknow was built by using harmony between the natural setting and twentieth-century materials, as well as a handcrafted feel in the building’s oak, steel, and granite. This mansion passed between owners, who all added their own stamp to the property. The estate is now well-maintained by the non-profit Castle Preservation Society for the benefit of the public. You can drink in the magnificent sights as you ascend the mountain on which the estate is set. It is surrounded by trails for both hiking and horseback riding, which generations of both locals and visitors have enjoyed. A sweeping, 180-degree view overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee and the local mountains make for an incredible backdrop for wedding ceremonies and photography sessions. This estate is a perfect blend of nature and architecture for the enjoyment of visitors. You and up to 200 of your loved ones can partake in this stunning setting for a wedding day celebration. The Carriage House Terrace offers a wonderful airy space for your cocktail hour. A vintage trolley service can bring you and your guests from the Carriage House to the ceremony and reception. Your ceremony can be held in the gardens, complete with cultivated flowerbeds, a century-old pergola, and a gilded-age fountain, 2,000 feet above Lake Winnipesaukee. Finally, you can round out your wonderful day with dinner and dancing. Your reception can be held in the Carriage House Terrace, Winnipesaukee Room, or a tented site in the Meadows at Shannon Pond. The distinct charm of the Castle will stay with you and your loved ones for years to come.

7. The Legacy Castle Pompton Plains, New Jersey
Fit for Royalty, The Legacy Castle is the only one of its kind. Capable of accommodating parties from 50 to 1500, The Legacy Castle is both elegant and legendary. With rooms suitable for every occasion, The Legacy Castle can accommodate your every need. The Mayfair Room and the Bristol Room can seat up to 125 guests. From its very conception Boldt Castle’s historic halls and grounds were filled with romance. Built in 1900 by George Boldt as a tribute to the love he felt for his wife Louise, today it remains a testament to their enduring love story. Surrounding the 19th century home are numerous gardens containing thousands of flowers as well as several stone structures of the same era, including the Gazebo, Alster Tower, Dove-Cote and the Powerhouse. Ceremonies are located at the Dove-Cote, allowing couples to make a grand entrance out of Boldt Castle. This section of the grounds, commonly called the courtyard, also overlooks the St. Lawrence River from three directions. Commissioned by Nevada silver heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs in 1899, architect Stanford White modeled Rosecliff after the Grand Trianon, the garden retreat of French kings at Versailles. After the house was completed in 1902, at a reported cost of $2.5 million, Mrs. Oelrichs hosted fabulous entertainments here, including a fairy tale dinner and a party featuring famed magician Harry Houdini. Scenes from several films have been shot on location at Rosecliff, including The Great Gatsby, True Lies, Amistad and 27 Dresses.
